WASHINGTON, D.C. — In an ongoing push to prioritize local needs and deliver tangible results for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District, Congressman Everton Blair Jr. (GA-13) introduced H.R. 10533, the Newton County Water Infrastructure Improvement Act, on September 24, 2026.
The legislation would extend the existing U.S. Army Corps of Engineers authorization to deliver on vital stormwater and wastewater infrastructure projects in Newton County. These long-overdue investments will improve the county's quality of life by repairing wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, restoring essential pumping facilities and expanding access to local drinking water.
"Delivering clean, reliable drinking water and functional public infrastructure is fundamental for the health and future of our communities." said Congressman Blair. "Newton County is seeing remarkable growth, and we must ensure our infrastructure keeps up with the needs of our people. The Newton County Water Infrastructure Improvement Act puts our community first by securing the federal resources required to expand water capacity, protect public health, and position Newton County for long-term strength and stability.".
The Newton County Water Infrastructure Improvement Act keeps the health, safety, and dignity of working people and local neighborhoods at the center of our federal policy agenda. As part of Congressman Blair’s continued efforts to modernize local infrastructure and deliver vital public resources across the district, this legislation takes immediate action to protect the local drinking water supply and improve critical public works, ensuring Newton County and communities across Georgia’s 13th District have the resilient infrastructure needed to thrive for generations to come.
